The United Opposition has urged political actors to act with decency and respect democratic processes, warning that citizens should never be harmed over political differences.
Led by Jubilee Presidential hopeful Fred Matiang’i, the coalition highlighted the dangers of attacks orchestrated by outsiders and stressed the need to protect local communities.
Matiang’i while addressing the media on Tuesday said that political violence undermines trust in leadership and erodes the country’s democratic foundations.
He emphasized that leaders must prioritize the safety and welfare of citizens, ensuring that political disputes are resolved through dialogue and lawful engagement rather than intimidation or force.
The coalition is undertaking a countrywide outreach to engage communities directly, hear public concerns, and provide assurance on governance.
Matiang’i acknowledged the support of local leaders and elected officials who are helping to facilitate the tour, noting that inclusive engagement with citizens is critical to restoring confidence in political processes.
He warned against leaders turning against their own communities, saying that recruiting outsiders to sow conflict is unacceptable and only worsens divisions.
The United Opposition stressed that protecting citizens, promoting accountability, and fostering peaceful engagement are central to its vision for the country.
Through its outreach, the coalition aims to demonstrate commitment to inclusive politics, responsible leadership, and the protection of life, sending a clear message that political differences should never come at the expense of citizen safety.
